iPad 2 Screen/Digitizer Replacement

I have had a few customers ask me lately similar questions about replacing their iPad 2 Screen and what parts they need to buy.  You have 2 options depending on your skill level and the amount of time you are looking to spend on this repair.

The first option you have is to but the iPad 2 Digitizer/Screen all by itself (http://www.iholesale.com/ipad/ipad-2/ipad-2-screen.html).  It comes in black or white.  If you do this, you will also need to purchase an adhesive kit to apply the screen to the iPad unit (http://www.iholesale.com/ipad/ipad-2/ipad-2-3m-screen-adhesive.html).  If you go with this method, you will need to remove the iPad 2 Home Button Assembly and the Camera Holder carefully so you can re-use them.  The home button assembly pops out relatively easily, and you can just pop it right into the new screen.  The adhesive kit even includes two small adhesive pieces for the home button assembly if you need to replace it.  You need to use a pry tool of some sort to remove the metal camera holder piece, being careful not to bend it when you pry it up so it sits flush on the new screen.  You can re-use the adhesive backing on the camera holder piece if needed, it doesn't take much.  Then you will need to apply the adhesive kit around the edges of the iPad screen (apply on the underneath side that will face down and go inside of the iPad unit).  See the picture below for adhesive placement.

The second option you have is to purchase the iPad 2 Screen/Digitizer Assembly(http://www.iholesale.com/ipad/ipad-2/ipad-2-assembly-with-frame.html).  This unit comes ready to be installed.  The Screen/Digitizer already has the home button assembly, camera holder, and adhesive pre-installed.  It looks just like the picture above.  It is a little easier and saves time on the installation.
